Coach Walker of the NU football team is no longer with us. This is just sad, sad news.

Funny how THIS week is more hellish than the past three at work... I guess trying to pack four days of work into three has managed to do what the golden arches could not...

Anyhow, time for bed...

Finally.

For those of you who weren't there, I went to the drive-in Sunday evening to see a showing of the newest Pixar offering, Cars. An enjoyable movie, and an enjoyable evening all told...

I hesitate to say anymore, but... well, somethings been on my mind ever since... I can't seem to stop dwelling on it... it's left me sleepless the past few nights, and consumed my thoughts during the day. I fear I may be over-thinking things (as is my wont) but still no obvious solution emerges...

*deep breath*

What's with the tractors???
(spoiler alert)

Ok, yes, on the surface they serve as amusing automobile analogues to human herds of cows or other barnyard animals... but... are they truly the domesticated stock of the greater automotive society? If so, what purpose do they serve? Harvesting plants is of no use to cars... there are no references to cars eating, and those references to drinking all suggest gasoline as the beverage of choice. Besides, none of them seemed to be towing any sort of tills or ploughs...

Perhaps it's much more sinister than that... perhaps the poor small brained tractors are bred for their parts!! However, even this malefic vision of cannabalistic cars doesn't seem that plausible when you break it down... what use would even a new(born?)(-ly off the assemlyline?) tractor's parts be to a high performance sports car or luxury sedan. One might imagine some few, smaller, more universal parts (nuts, bolts, all four shocks?) being cross compatible, but wouldn't it be easier for the automotive society to produce new sparkplugs off an assembly line?

I... I better stop now... at this rate, soon I'll be seeing the entire film as a cautionary tale about the emergent of extra-human machine intelligence...

僕 + 女性 = 馬鹿

Interesting how 'horse' plays a roll in the japanese too... of course in english the equivilant expression might involve anatomy rather than a deer...

Coming home after a long day at work, I often like to just plop down and watch some tv. Of course, the problem with getting home at midnight is that unless you like Ron Popeil, there's nothing worth watching on the networks.

Thankfully, I've discovered youtube as a more than acceptable alternative. The fact that I've been watching stuff on youtube all week makes it more surprising that I had to get a link from PW to find this masterwork. Perhaps we can get a constitutional amemdment passed that allows the first president as many terms in office as he likes?

While I admire the fellow's spirit... I AM NOT DOING THIS.

It's a strange mix of hilarity and heart-break when a friend's description of a 'healing' class they are taking begins to sound like a Naruto fanfiction. While I'll accept that certain traditional medicine practices may empirically work (when that is empirically demonstrated), to believe that they work via manipulating 'Ki' in order to balance one's 'chakra' is... well, as the another made up character might say, 'これは ナンセンス だ.

Since I'm 'one of the guys', I believe it's appropriate to say that some of 'the girls' threw a party this weekend. It was probably the closest I've come to one of the Kemper 'conflagrations' (or whatever other pyro-niscent name they might have had) since being in... well, Kemper. A good time was had by all I believe.

And I avoided drinking as much as I did at new years, despite bringing a liter of sapphire for martinis.

So that's a plus.
